The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh initiated a Master Plan for Servicing the village of Port Albert in May 2018. Council adopted the Port Albert Servicing Master Plan as presented by BM Ross & Associates dated April 27, 2022 by by-law on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. The purpose of a Master Plan is to provide a system-wide approach to infrastructure planning to allow for proper drainage when development occurs within Port Albert.

The Huron County Fire Chiefs have announced that the Open-Air Fire Ban, which was put in place earlier this summer due to dry conditions, will be officially lifted at 12:01 AM on August 20, 2025.
The Huron County Fire Chiefs have declared an open-air fire ban in Huron County. There will be no open-air burning permitted in Huron County until further notice.
