The objective of the program is to aid in keeping our lakes, rivers, streams and groundwater pollution free. Septic systems that are improperly maintained, outdated or malfunctioning may have a negative impact on the groundwater, the surrounding water bodies and the environment. Systems on waterfront properties are first priority but all systems in the Township will be inspected.
The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh aims to improve the well-being and quality of life of the community and its residents through financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations. Applications to the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh for Community Grant Funding will be accepted no later than January 31st each year.

The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has applied to the Ministry of Natural Resources to license a portion of Part Lot 9, Concession 6 Eastern Division, in the Geographic Township of Ashfield, in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, in the County of Huron. 16.62 ha (41 acres) is proposed to be licensed to operate a Class A Pit, above the water table with a maximum annual tonnage of 100,000 tonnes.
A 10-year Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan, along with Concept Plans, has been developed to guide the future growth and enhancement of public parks, trails, facilities, and recreational in the Township.
The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is moving forward with Phase 1b. of the Port Albert Servicing Master Plan. This project includes roadway urbanization and storm sewer installation.
The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is moving forward with Phase 1C of the Port Albert Servicing Master Plan this year. This project, known as the Market and Sydenham Street Improvements, includes roadway urbanization and storm sewer installation on Market and Sydenham Street and the Extension of Sydenham Street to the Victoria Street Drain.

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) was retained by the Townships of Howick, North Huron and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (collectively “the Townships”) to assess current landfill practices and to develop a recycling plan to accommodate the transition of recycling (Blue Box) from municipal collection and processing to Producer Responsibility. The transition is to proceed in accordance with the ‘Blue Box Regulation’ (O.Reg. 391/21) under the ‘Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016’ (RRCEA).

The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh established a Short-Term Rental (STR) Committee This special (Ad-hoc) committee of Council made a recommendation to Council on a draft licensing by-law to regulate STRs in the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh (ACW). After completing its mandate, the Short-Term Rental Committee recommended adoption of the draft Short-Term Rental By-Law, which Council subsequently adopted as By-Law 68- 2025.

The ACW Zoning By-law was passed on June 3rd, 2008 its purpose is to provide regulations which will affect control over all forms of land use or other related matters within the Township. The update process was initiated by Council in June 2023.
