The Huron County Fire Chiefs have announced that the Open-Air Fire Ban, which was put in place earlier this summer due to dry conditions, will be officially lifted at 12:01 AM on August 20, 2025.

With the recent rainfall and improved conditions across the county, outdoor burning can now safely resume in accordance with municipal by-laws and any required permits.

Residents are reminded to continue using caution and to follow safe practices when burning:

• Never leave a fire unattended.
• Keep adequate water or firefighting equipment on site.
• Ensure that fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area.
• Follow municipal regulations and obtain permits where required.

The Huron County Fire Chiefs thank all residents for their patience, cooperation, and understanding while the fire ban was in place. Together, we can continue to keep our communities safe.
