This park is named after Elwin "Pete" Petrie, the Petrie Family owned and operated the Port Albert General Store from 1923-1990. This property once owned by the Petrie family was the hub for recreational activites and celebrations in Port Albert from 1923-2017.  The Port Albert & District Recreational Society is a non-profit volunteer group which maintains Petrie Park.
